Fantasy Landscape

I took inspiration from several shots in the Hobbit for this one, combining elements from each, and of course, going for that golden hour look. I have only recently got into environment art so this was a first foray for me.

Nothing so sweeping and grand as a fantasy-esque landscape offers quite so many opportunities at pooling various vfx techniques to pull the shot off. You've got water, trees, buildings, smoke, mist, flowing flags, flocks of birds, clouds and mountains! Without further ado, here is the breakdown. Scene build and lighting in Maya/Arnold. Heightfields and smoke/clouds in Houdini.BOSS for water. MASH for bird flocks and geo scattering, from trees to rocks. Maya Cloth for flags.Buildings from Kitbash3D Fairytale Kit, assets from Quixel Megascans also.
